‘Small’ Layoff Today

Information is sketchy, but apparently there is what Courant Content Manager Jeff Levine describes as a “small reduction in staff today.” The photo desk may have been affected.

We are constantly assessing our operation, looking for efficiencies that will least impact our readers and journalism.  While today’s cuts cause us personal and professional pain, the reductions better position our organization to meet our evolving production, news gathering and budgetary needs.

I suppose it looks larger if you are part of the reduction.

It might hurt less if he didn’t write with a clyster syringe.

Talk is that it’s the whole copy desk, or what’s left of it. Six or seven who might know the difference between Asylum Street and Asylum Avenue — or East Hartford and West Hartford.
