This sad news from Dan Haar:
Friends,
I’m sorry to have to report that Duncan Haimerl passed away yesterday at a rehabilitation facility in Kent after suffering a heart attack. As most of you know, Duncan was recovering from cancer surgery.
Duncan’s wife, Nancy, takes solace in the fact that Duncan’s mind and sense of humor never failed him. We saw that as he filed columns a few hours before surgery and soon after he began recovery, joking about the details. Duncan found something he loved – cars, and writing about them – and he never stopped doing it, never lost the pure joy of it.
Nancy would like Duncan’s old colleagues and friends to know about the news, and that his suffering at the end was minimal. Lillis funeral home in New Milford will handle arrangements, which are not yet set.

What a nice, nice man he was.
It is a sad day, to have lost another of our own. My condolences to his wife, whom he spoke fondly of. He was one of the old Courant’s treasures, and he’ll be sorely missed.
Very sad. A good guy, with a wicked sense of humor and an upbeat attitude.
Thanks for letting us know, Dan and Paul. I’m not a religious sort, but I hope heaven is a wide highway…
Looked to forward to his stuff every week; learned a ton from him. God Bless
I read Duncan’s column every Saturday, and I looked forward to his articles.I am sorry to hear of his passing, and I wish all the best for his family.
