One of our former Courant brethren saw the recent ad seeking copy editors for a new New York Times News Service being set up in Gainesville, Fla. He wanted everyone who is interested to know the back story from organized labor’s perspective:
“In a nutshell, it is that the Times is laying off the (higher paid) copy editors who currently staff the operation in New York, and moving the whole thing to Gainesville, where they hope to hire (lower paid) new ones,” he says.
