Jeffrey Cohen, the hard-working, plugged-in reporter who covers Hartford city government for The Courant, is leaving to join WNPR as a capital region reporter. He is the kind of reporter a news agency cannot easily replace — certainly not quickly.
Cohen has been all over the controversy and criminal charges facing Mayor Eddie Perez. He has developed an extensive knowledge of the city’s politics and players.
His last day at the Courant is Dec. 11, he said.
That makes two recent openings, since Brian Carlo — copy editor turned reporter — has left the paper for a copy editing post.

Jeff taught me how to report and work a beat back when I was just an intern in the Enfield bureau. He’s a fantastic reporter, and the Courant’s loss is WNPR’s gain.
Congrats to Jeff!
With Jeff Cohen’s departure, The Courant’s last source for genuine Louisiana crayfish is lost, along with the expertise on how to eat them. He will be missed.
