It would appear that the Courant has refined its approach to aggregating the local news to something more reasonable than what got them into trouble on their first attempt. (There was that whole plagiarism thing.)
Case in point, this item: http://www.courant.com/community/hartford/hc-agg-hartford-police-investigation-1108,0,7727724.story
It is a one-sentence reference that directs the reader off of Courant.com and onto the local NBC affiliate’s website for the full story.
I published the entire Courant.com link for a reason, by the way. It is evidence of an orderly aggregation filing system. Note the “/hc-agg-” prefix on the story slug. That agg most likely stands for “aggregation.”
This is actually a reader service, by the way. Whether it comes at the expense of page views may ultimately be unknowable, but at least it will assure online news readers of a more comprehensive knowledge of what’s going on in their state.
