I just wanted to let Courant alums know that, sadly, Matt Daly’s father, John Jay Daly, passed away last Thursday at age 80. Many of us also know Matt’s wife, Courant alum Meredith Carlson, and his twin brother, Brendan, himself a former Connecticut newspaperman. (I worked with Brendan and his future wife, Julie Rasicot, at the Waterbury Republican many, many years ago, as did Bill Leukhardt, Don Stacom, Mike Balchunas, Jeanne Leblanc…)
John’s death was unexpected. A very sad time for all, though his wake Monday evening was a true Irish affair – a wonderful celebration.
