Given two recent and horrific incidents of domestic violence that rocked the area and reached right into the Fox 61 / Courant newsroom, it should be no surprise that the “content managers” are planning a “big series” on domestic violence and possible ways to reduce it.
I don’t believe The Courant has addressed this subject in a big way since the famous Tracey Thurman case. This site is a pretty remarkable piece of work by Rep-Am.com. It includes advice from the state ‘s most famous victim of domestic violence. It will be interesting to see what the Courant/Fox staff, now with its reduced firepower, comes up with.
No doubt Tracey Motuzick felt strongly the terror that was inflicted on Fox 61 assignment editor Alice Morrin, who was slain by her husband in Vernon; and Nancy Tyler, held hostage in South Windsor by her husband Richard Shenkman. Perhaps the Courant’s new work will revisit her and the landmark legislation her case caused.
