Divider Coming Down

The physical merging of Fox 61 and The Courant is scheduled to enter a significant (and perhaps symbolic) new phase later this month when the Great Gray Wall dividing the newsroom is removed.

Part of the news library will next be converted into a studio for the lottery drawings, so a new divider will be erected there, and another door added.  Graphics is also being relocated to allow for use of the space by the combined Courant/Fox 61 photo and video department. There goes the spectacular view of the I-84 elevated roadway.

Anyway, here’s how newsroom manager Lori Skoglund describes the experience of reconfiguring the rooms:

The environment has been noisy from time to time; power has been interrupted; lights went out on one occasion; the network has had an interruption or two and the air temperature has ranged from arctic to steamy rain forest. You have all been exceedingly tolerant and good natured through all of it.
