Dear Courant Alumni,
We’re looking for strong freelance writers who know, and love, the Hartford area. The Warren Group — a family-owned company — has published The Commercial Record weekly newspaper in Connecticut for the last 127 years. We also publish about 20 business-related magazines from Virginia to Maine.
Now we’re about to launch something a little bit different.
Starting this fall, we’ll be producing a bi-monthly magazine about Hartford. The magazine is designed to speak to the leadership community in the region. It’s going to be thoughtful, substantive and fun. You’re not going to find any “Best Docs in Hartford” B.S. in this pub. But you will find stories about issues and people that are important to Hartford’s future. We’ll be looking at arts organizations, politics, business and so much more. This is about Hartford’s future as much as it is about its present.
To really make this special, we want to be sure we’ve got the best writers possible from the area. That’s why I’m reaching out to the Courant alumni group. You are the people who for years produced a newspaper I was proud to read.
If you’re interested in telling interesting stories about greater Hartford, give me a ring. My direct dial number is below. My cell phone number — which will get me either at my office in Boston, or my home in West Hartford — is also included. My email address is vvalvo@thewarrengroup.com.
I could tell you all about how good a company The Warren Group is to work with. How we put an emphasis on quality over profit. How we understand the importance of good journalism. But you’re reporters. Check us out. Do a search in Google for our company, or even for me. Check out our company website, and our newspaper sites. And if you think you might have something to add to the conversation, let’s talk.
