Incentives Are Important

Tribune has asked the bankruptcy court to approve the payment of $21 to $66 million in bonuses to the company’s executive class, some that were deferred from 2008. 

I think this is only fair. We all know that the paper’s top managers work harder than everyone else, and through their tireless efforts to rid the company of so many other employees (or reduce their pay, as in Shelly Sindland’s case), are helping take the firm, in Randy Michael’s terms, ”to the next level.”
