This is a few days late, but the new Assignment Czar is Andrew Julien.
Here’s the official memo from the CM (that’s Content Manager):
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that we were going to be developing a new interim assignment to help speed up our efforts to increase collaboration. Several people took the leap forward and volunteered for this opportunity including Andrew Julien, the Courant’s Metro Editor. Andrew has a deep understanding of Connecticut news, is innovative, a quick learner and very open minded. In short, he has the skills needed to succeed as our “assignment czar.”
As I mentioned earlier, the role will be pivotal in helping our news organizations to coordinate content, improve quality through collaboration and avoid unnecessary duplication. He will be responsible for working with origination editors and assignment managers for the coordinating of all elements of news gathering — starting with the assigning of reporters and photographers.
Ken Margolfo, Fox 61′s assignment manager will be working very closely with Andrew on this process and will act as his back-up when needed.
Andrew will spend the next few weeks immersing himself in the workflow of the TV news operation and will start moving forward with his new responsibilities very quickly. Please congratulate Andrew for stepping up to take on this exciting challenge. I am confident that he will play a big role in helping us to get moving quickly toward the future.
