Geek Seminar: March 19

The “geek training” we’ve been talking about will be held Thursday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Farmington Library community room. It’s at 6 Monteith Drive, right off Route 4, between Farmington center and Unionville. Everyone is welcome, but I ask two things. RSVP to me at  jeanneleblanc@yahoo.com by Monday (March 16), but first please read the following to be sure this session is what you’re looking for.

Several people have asked me about “your HTML training” or the “Web boot camp,” but that’s not really what we’re doing. It would not be possible to do any meaningful hands-on training with so many people in such a short time. The intention here is to talk about what skills you might want to acquire and how and where you might acquire them, along with some tips on setting up a very basic Web site or blog for the purposes of job hunting. This is intended for people who, as someone expressed it to me, “don’t even know what it is we need to know.” (So if you already have your own Web site or are training in HTML, XHTML or CSS, this probably won’t help you much.)

There is no charge. There will be coffee. I’m told there may be muffins and other fine comestibles.
