This from Jeanne Leblanc:
Paul and I have heard from 10 people, including a few still working at The Courant, who are interested in some form of Web training. Based on what people seem to want to know, I figure we should take approximately 90 minutes for a beginner-level overview of the following topics, with tips on where to learn more about them and lots of time for quesions:
HTML, XHTML and CSS
content management systems
Photoshop
building a Web site
starting a blog
I’d appreciate if anyone we haven’t heard from yet who is interested could just add a comment here or email me so I can get a final count and we can find a venue.

This is a great idea in my view. Anyone who has spent anytime looking at, or applying for, any online jobs in journalism or related media has seen the qualifications for web fluency. Not just familiarity, but mastery of the web language or experience working on a website. Under the current Courant regime, same as its predecessors, reporters stories would appear on our website but they are placed there by webstaff only. We should be lining up.
Spoke with an editor at a popular website in late January and he said few are being hired in his department without extensive technical experience on the web. Be forewarned.
