Somebody is showing some good instincts by encouraging the maintenance of a Hartford Courant page on Facebook. At a time when nothing seems to be working, everything is worth a try.
It’s possible that a Facebook presence may encourage non-print social networkers to at least be aware of the state’s most powerful news organization. Folks who otherwise might not subscribe to the paper might subscribe to a feed.
There are some issues of scale to overcome, of course.
The Courant claims on the page below – and in print — to be read “by 800,000 Connecticut residents every week in print and online.” I don’t know where they get that number, but compare it to the 194 Facebook fans they had as of today and you realize the social network has a lot of catching up to do.
Still, you have to start someplace.
