The Courant has lost a huge amount of talent over the last year. — some of the best writers, editors, photojournalists and multi-media people in the state. We know because we’re it.
So some of us have been thinking it would be smart to figure out a way to tell the marketplace where it can find good media talent for freelance work, or where they can recruit permanent help, or where they can find a group of experienced communications people who can handle special projects or assignments without the hassle of a long-term employer-employee relationship.
To that end we are gathering next week to explore the idea of creating a freelance agency or collective.
For those of you who might have not seen it, Mike Kodas’ announcement is below. One important point: If you plan to attend, please RSVP so we can make the proper room arrangements, etc.
For everyone interested in pursuing the idea of creating a Connecticut Freelance Agency, we’ll be meeting at Lee Hecht Harrison next Wednesday, January 14th from 9 am until noon. We’ll be discussing ideas on what kind of services we can offer, how to organize and operate the endeavor, how to structure the organization legally and financially, who our potential clients will be and how to approach them, and what other media people and organizations we can partner and cooperate with.
For those of you who haven’t been to LHH before, here are their details:
433 S Main St # 200
West Hartford, CT 06110
(860) 282-9800
Please RSVP to me or Claude Albert at claudealbert@comcast.net.
